Mercy Aigbe and Tonto Dikeh?
Domestic Violence is a serious issue everywhere in the
world; no matter how some countries have laws protecting both sex and all that
good stuff. It is an epidemic beyond cultural beliefs and situations. Abuse is
Abuse. We (both sex) cover for our partners in one way or another, either as a
complementary gestures; to our family or to our friends, as an effort to make our
partners look good (material wise) without any form of abuse.
It is completely different, when we
lie for a partner who abuses us, that is totally unacceptable. Personally, I stand against any form of abuse
against anyone covered or not.
Today, Mercy Aigbe posted a
pic from the doctor’s office in UK, one who specializes in Maxillofacial and oral
surgery. Not to sound mean or insensitive to the plights of popular Nigerian
artiste Mercy Aigbe through the hands of her Ex -husband (Lanre Gentry) who is
totally sick and a loser for physically abusing her. #trulyheartbreaking.
However,
the hashtags on her post got me thinking, If she and Tonto Dikeh as stars were
Ambassadors for war Against Domestic Violence and there were reports of them
being abused by their partners, but they denied it...to the point of video
release and a united front on social media; even though they are survivors, Would
they lose their brand as an ambassador or does that disqualify them forever as
an ambassador for such as important
cause due to their lies?
