If you are into high-life music, one Nigerian Y2K compliant artiste comes to mind is Adekunle Gold. Initially popular for his photo-shop skill and
later earning his place as a member of the popular YBNL crew. The royal born musician
has since moved on from YBNL label to creating his own band ‘The 79th
Element’, releasing his brand-new music video Only Girl ft. Moe logo.
The
first sound hits my ears and the first song that came to mind was Kete Kete by Ebenezer Obey mixed with
Alex Uwaifo Joromi; two very popular and
classic music but his add a 2017 touch.
There’s nothing wrong with this video, it was
shot somewhere in UK, and it tells a story of lovers on a date from underground
lovey dovey to street confession at a crossroad finishing it with a touch of
sweetness and innocent love
laide mo le bura per mo ni eni body
Laide o laide
I am lucky to have you
Olaide o, laide
Plenty boys line up but you chose me
Laide o laide
I asked myself! WHY DOES HE ALWAYS SCREAM A GIRLS NAME (sade, Adeola and now Laide) and
why do I love it. The video was well directed, the montages suites the
entertaining chorus; kudos to the director Moe Musa and Moe Logo (LOVE HIM) who
is the featuring artist came in at the right time to complement each other as
they sync in tune and move.
Overall, the
simplicity of the lyrics, beats, featuring artist, makes it clear that this crew put a lot of planning to it and the consistences and originality from Adekunle Gold makes him an
artist with more than a vision and a dream.
