Synopsis
The two part movie is about a woman in her 20s, brought up by her grandmother sets out to find her father; her journey to finding her father was filled with rejection, survival and love.Eyinju (Arike Akinyanju) was raised in a poverty stricken home, her grand mother managed to provide everything she needed and she turned out beautiful,well-trained and an aspiring model loved by agents and clients but for some reason she never gets the job. The mentality of knowing someone to be relevant takes her on a path she wish never happened.
Let's Talk Review
Eyinju is probably the most simple, matured, grounded and selfless person you can ever find and with a lot of daddy issue which weakens her confidence and self-esteem because "she didn't have her father' in the picture while growing up (boo hoo hoo). Eyinju works for a modeling agency and is tormented by conversation her colleagues makes about people without parents being a failure to the society;eyinju attributed her losing streak to not having a parent figure or influential parents.
Eyinju desperately seeks her father who already has a wife and two kids;Eyinju's father played by Muyiwa Ademola accepted her as his first daughter but his wife (Bimbo Akintola) and his daughter however, are different story. The constant insult from the family lead to horrible repercussions.
Although, the plot is typical in the movie industry but this movie was well delivered, great picture quality, lights, perfect location and soundtrack. The comedic aspect is just...well hilarious thanks to Binta Ayo-Mogagi and Wale Akorede aka Alfa.
I only have three things about the movie ; there are thousands of kids out there who don't have parents and they still have a very good life, therefore not having a/both parent around is not a disability. Anyways, the director should have gone with a different story line for eyinju to meet her father; like they accidentally run to each other or he saw his wallet with her or picture of Eyinju's mom. The second part is what Muyiwa Ademola said when he sat down with his daughter was just wrong, forcing yourself on a woman is never right. Lastly, if you want to keep us in suspense please remember to edit out the parties that takes the suspense away.
Overall, Eyinju is no doubt a good piece that enlightens the mind and also a reminder that any sort of disability is just a phase...it never defines who you are but writer lacks creativity towards the end of the movie.
