Olamide ft. Don Jazzy

Skelemba

Its barely a week Olamide launched his new album Street OT packed with 22 songs; he released the music video Skelemba which is number 8 on his album.

Lets Talk Review
The three minutes plus video was directed by Unlimited LA (good job) which shows African costumes, new dance steps and neon effects that featured Mavin's boss Don Jazzy; a nostalgic video that reminds me of the Gods must be crazy movie.

Olamide's creativity clearly shows in the video with his concept that would have been better if the verses synced or I know the meaning of Skelemba; other than diversity picture shown. Some of the  dudes were dressed like the great Massai warriors of Kenya, ladies in Botswana traditional attires (sort of), belly dancing outfit, and finally formal wear. And because of the diversity, I ran with the word and search for what Skelemba mean; and in the long run...I got nothing except for his video.
My issue with the video started with the verses:
vrs 1
it is whatever its sir
iwo ni mo n ba wi my sister
pale Yankee yato si visa
and i no go ever dismiss her/ am
d gbedu dey sweet am
so fun DJ ko repeat am volume yen
However , the verse two following Don Jazzy's verse made sense, it was all bout a wanting a girl that he
Don Jazzy , Olamide Img
lost, she came back and he doesn't want her to leave ( which is cute) but what he should have done is use verse one to talk about loosing the chic and then follow it up with what he has in verse two
ma ti gate
(dont shut the gate)
bo si ...... je ka relate
(come here lets get to know one another)
sun mo n mi ma lo mo
(come closer, dont ever leave)
baby na only you be the only girl I want
emi on se Mr macaroni ton riding on the bicycle

chorus
skelemba skelente
I dont know but I love you

The weird thing about this video is; aside the fact that the first verse was out of place, the beats, slang and his mannerism is what sells; I mean I listened and watched skelemba over and over, sang the nursery rhyme (Mr Macaroni) just to understand the whole lyric and Nada...and still I find myself saying skelemba and dancing to the beat ( a typical wacky lyrics but beats makes it all sound good syndrome).

Overall, the video had good directors, sounds and good production but Skelemba is another word invented by Olamide baddo and only him knows what it means, I sure don't.
To all music lovers. here is a Skelemba by Olamide Baddo

Rating-5/10
