Aina More

Layback

www.letoyinspeak.com

When I think neo-soul/Afro/hip hop, the names that pops in my head are Femi Kuti, Asa, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Lauryn Hill, Bilal, India Arie, Common, Dwele, Dr Dre, JayZ and Mos Def. All of these artist and more have marked their presence with huge success in the genre. I have not heard anything like this in a while; I felt the song, lyrics, concept, beat to my very being and my love for neo-soul/original hip hop erupted (volcanic-like); all I could do was just sit back, listen and groove. All thanks to Aina More's Layback

The first time I heard the bristish born and raised artist was back in 2013 when she released Jaburata video on YouTube, I only listened to the song twice and watched it once not because I didn't like it but because it was 'not new' her new video LAYBACK is totally different, its everything I want in a song and most of all inspring for me to write about...its pure, undiluted HipHop talent and dosed with neo-soul thanks to her featured artist Jecoliah Parker....respect

Lets Talk Review
Capturing a beat and sound that takes you way back to the 90's when Lauryn Hill was kicking it with the

Fugees yet dashed with the new school. Aina More made neo-soul meet hip hop back to what raw talent in music is; and what it means.
The concept of the video is simple with lots of meaning to the whole scene and still very powerful, its evident that Layback was about how being yourself back in the day was the truth and how truth pretty much don't mean anything anymore. hence, why she was in towel walking down the street and getting dressed while walking on the road; which reminds me of Eryka Badu's Window Seat.  The message is somewhat similar but distinctively different.
The lyrics are very clear and anyone will understand the depth of the message, I couldn't help but keep watching and playing this video, over and over again:
Sometimes I miss the old days
I miss the old me
I miss not missing anything
That's the key
let it all flow; let it all fly
Don't follow Fashion; follow your passion
The hook which was by Jecoliah Parker was an epitome of classic Lauryn hill/Jill Scott meet India Arie

(classy/talented/beautiful and 100% swag mode). She sat on a bench in the park, pouring out her voice:
Sometimes I feel lost in this mission called life
And I know sometimes I ain't living right
But its alright
Sometimes I've got to layback
The two minutes and fifty seconds (x10) video took me space that brought me back with a beaming heart, I am so addicted to this song.  Everything was perfect, Aina More is no doubt my super Gem with her love for hip hop and raw talent.
Overall, the video is filled with out of this world elements that helps translate the gap between the old days and the new age and also the simplicity of this contagious song with a different approach to music will show you how many people actually appreciate talents.

To all who really do appreciate music, kick back and enjoy layback from AINA MOORE ft Jecoliah Parker (xoxoxo)
