AYO
Its crystal clear that its not just DJs who like making mix tapes; even musician are in on the act. This album is a perfect example of mix talents..AYO...... I am not really sure if the album is named after his first name (AYO Balogun) which also means Joy, but Star boy leading man was determined to have an album that cuts across fans all over; the album is filled with styles from Afro pop, high life and to reggae. Most of the tracks are club hits while few are blah at first but tend to grow on you, that being said; AYO is a delightful experience.
The Nigerian artist brings a mix of influential tracks to this album, starting strong with popular club hit Jaiye Jaiye ft Femi Kuti raising his groove with an all out star experience, a classy touch to the album, a perfect track and smart move. You can almost smell confidence a mile way from wizkid and there is no better way to show that but through one of the many materials entertainers have at their disposal which is money hence, Show me the money strong impression.
Ordinarily mixing tracks on an album is a risky business especially when the beatz sound almost the same through most of the tracks. One thing amid the familiar beatz is; it couldn't have been better than this. Sure thing is the high life tune never fails, and they didnt fails Mummy Mi. Personally, I so love this track #onrepeat; a wonderful track that speaks his adoration for his mom...
On a mature trail comes Ojuelegba. Let me digress for a sec, yes....most of his songs is about ladies and Wizkid won't be the first male artist into songs that appeals to female but few of the tracks in this album had a different tune and a different side of him, what he can bring to the table; I mean here is a young and accomplished artists that paints a not so smooth journey on how he became a household name as he pays tribute to his humble beginning as he said '
Ayo is a cool album mainly supported by its singles but still a worthy package, after going through the entire album I can say this is an awesome collection of past single and future singles with a lot of cool materials and collabs from For you ft Akon, Murder ft Wale , In Love ft Seyi shay all the featured tracks were awesome except for Dutty Wine ft EME General Banky W all I know is I had a soar taste and it just made me cringe.
On a disappointng note, its no news that I do not like In my bed (here is why...In My Bed----Review) which wasn't as heartbreaking than mot seeing Drop (wizkid ft. Wale) in the list of tracks on the album; I guess reports about picking tracks was though.
Overall, Its extremely hard to move forward if you cant make sense of the past so I am in no way going to compare his previous albums and stay strictly to this, therefore AYO is Wizkid and he is an artist who isn't perfect but a remarkable skilled entertainer.
