Over the weekend, I saw this movie Morenike on an African Movie hosting sites and I thought I’d share my thought on it. It was not an out of the world movie but it was beautifully delivered
This movie is about the story of a lady Marian Godwin (Morenike) and how she survived the street of Lagos. Morenike the lead role became the only surviving child in her family, I know it sounds typical but I look for a movie that gives some sort of message to viewers. The long story has lots of suspense, tragedies, challenges, mysterious behavior and many twists.
New characters were introduced in this film; they were all fantastic and intriguing to see that there are new faces to look forward to other than the big popular faces I am accustomed to. Furthermore, the film was a good length; perfectly scripted to tell the whole story without a second installment (part two). The cool part of the film was the location for different line, particularly the village setting.
The film was also different from the rest of the movies I have seen because it made the movie plausible especially the characters of best mom actress Fausat Balogun popularly known as Madam Shaje and the contractors and Biodun Arobiosan making reference to how people go to dangerous means of becoming rich. It was fun to watch a movie that has suspense, romance, drama, and Yoruba curses…yes curses (epe), it was fun to watch. However, one thing directors and editors need to watch out for is the soundtrack used in the movie which gives a clear picture of the entire film, it was easy to predict even with the twist and a particular scene were shots were fired, I don’t need to see the entire gun if you are not going to show the culprit. The shots and dead bodies pretty much tells everything
In conclusion, anyone can watch this movie because the substittle and was done well and it was a very calm, cool, straight to the point-movie; it reminds everyone what happens in real life. Above all, it was entertaining.
