The Headies Awards 2014

Headies
PC
      The Headies award formerly know as the Hip Hop World Awards was held at the prestigioous Eko Hotel on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The event brought all entertainers together from Comedians, OAPs, actors and actresses but, the night was about appreciating our music entertainers. I dont know the capacity the venue but it was fully packed with legions of fans.

     There are few baddies at the just concluded event but lets talk more on eveything that went right;
Cynthia Morgan
Young Greyc was one of the first set of performance of the night that lit up the room, a young lady with a powerful voice who initially gave me that subtle Alicia Keyes performance stunned me when she turned the table around and gave me classic reggae queen vibe Patra as she performs Chukwuma. There were others SOE hip-hop and popping dancers all the way from vegas, lil Kesh who thrilled the crowd with viral hit single Shoki, next was Nikki Laoye who looked like a conservative Britney Spears in the school girl outfit, her performance with her back up was very nice. Personally, the best performance of the night was Cynthia Morgan who almost
had a wardrobe Malfunction commanded the stage as she performed I am Taken

Toke Makinwa and BasketMouth
 The event was hosted by international comedian Basketmouth and popular radio presenter Toke Makinwa; the nominees for rookie of the year was the first award of the night which was later bagged by Reekado Banks of Mavin Records under Don Jazzy. The amazing thing about the rookie of the year category was that, all the artist nominated performed at the event given the fans a thrill in watching their newest artist perform. the first toperform was Slyde,
  A huge event like The Headies will definitely be plagued with mishaps here and there; the two baddies that stood out, above and beyond the exclusion of Toke Makinwa-Ayida ungodly bad performance as host who went from wishy washy accent, to simply not knowing when to stop talking. Even when comedian/host Basketmouth tried cracking jokes to calm the hostile crowd; she just wouldn't zip it and let him ...crack his joke. It got so bad, I could count how many times I saw them (host) on stage. I do commend her for coming back on stage after almost being booed off ,she wasn't a pretty site to the crowd....poor girl. To make matters worse, she indulged multi-talented comedian Julius Agwu; (which is a sign of loosing her wits on stage) he turned on her by throwing shades. Personally, I know that was wrong he shouldn't be the one to do that considering they are both entertainers and getting the attention of BasketMouth while hosting is a no-no, but I would like to know what he whispered and got turned down for.
      Moving on,first was the matter of time, the time printed on the ticket was 6pm PROMPT and the event didnt start until 11:30; the first presenter could have said good morning ladies and gentlemen  if the organizers had waited a while.
      In addition, the extremely poor presentation of the hall of fame awards to Sir Dr. Victor Uwaifo; who is
Sir Dr. Victor Uwaifo performing his classic hit Joromi
a professor, Sculptor, philospher and most of all iconic musician is absolutely unacceptable. There should have been a short video about his life, music journey and few doctrines.
      In the end, The Headies did cover all ground of what an award event should be like; wonderful performances, tribute to late artist and Rape campaign. It was a long night of mood swings, I  however did feel the passion.
