The 3rd annual Golden Icon Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA) was held on October 25th, 2014 at the Stafford Center in Houston Texas, an event where celebrities and fans mobbed the entrance and exit of the location; passionately waiting to nab a full front view seats.....who wouldn't when you see the likes of Emem Isiong (Nollywood), Pascal Atuma (Hollywood/Nollywood), Uti Nwachukwu, Ini Edo, Alex Ekubo, Susan Peters, Majid Michael, Edith Pikwa Boma (Cameroun/Nollywood/Hollywood), Ruth Kadiri and a host of others.
The event was hosted by A list comedian, Julius Agwu who was spectacular in driving the event to an unforgetable experience with his humor, sarcasm that earned laughs from the audience. The opening act of the event was Mayoa who serenaded the crowd with her amazing vocals followed by Cameroun talented artist DJ skipper who sang All night long.
Brilliant way of opening an event, it got me so excited I was looking forward to which of the artist the organizers have that will cause an uproar.

Speech:
Seyi Brown- Nigerian US based MC/Comedian took to the stage to address Ebola, ALS Challenge and Chibok girls on how Nigerian celebrities took a serious cause to a joke.
Ivie Okujaye: won the award for most promising actress; she gave a short, heart warming speech and then dedicated her trophy to her dad who was present.
Uti Nwachuku: personally gave the best speech of the night by giving respect to God and actors and actresses who helped him when he started his career.
The performance of djskipper, Mayoa and 2 other artist performed we are the world was the best performance of the night.Their performance had me on my feet as I waved my hands from left to right and sang along the iconic music. The CEO dancer were also epic with their diverse steps. The well decorated hall had their lights and microphones, award presentation, camera's and live camera shine directly to presenters and performance and couldn't have been better. There was no chance for downward spiral at the event, special thanks to Seyi Brown, Jedi Ayo and especially Julius Agwu as they pumped the audience with impersonating jokes.

However half way through the event, the stage curtain went down for few minutes while they get ready for the next agenda, during this time nothing was done until the movie tailer came on the big screen
Furthermore, the cheers for winners were only based on faces, I have only seen one movie (Apaye) out of all the categories. I can not help but wonder what happened to Contract, Knocking on heaven's Door,Flower Girl, Unconditional and many more . That being said, its hard to tell if the night ended with big surprises in the just concluded GIAMA awards ceremony that acknowledge some talented artist whom we know by name and not by the movies they are awarded with, not knowing whether it was well deserved but the night was filled with laughter and fun.
Overall, the award went very well and would have been the best award event if I knew or have seen half of the movies won,if the organisers have a DJ cover the few minutes before the trailer and lastly if they also have a popular performer like MCgalaxy(Sekem), Kesh (shoki) or someone to get the audience on their feet.
